Resident artists visit Parque das Dunas and plant Pau Brasil seedlings

Dunas comes with the intention of integrating contemporary art, music, nature and traditional knowledge, bringing together artists from different countries in this great Journey.

And to start the activities scheduled for the 15 days of residency, the invited artists planted a Pau Brasil tree in Parque das Dunas, on Monday (14), graced by a traditional Burkina Faso ritual, performed by Konomba Traoré. 🙏🌱

Do you know how important tree planting is?

Greenhouse Gases can be offset by planting trees and this CO2 offset can be accomplished through the restoration of native forests or the implementation of commercial forests.

For every 7 trees, it is possible to remove 1 ton of carbon in their first 20 years of age. Based on this average, the number of trees that will be needed to neutralize Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions is determined.

The artistic residency “Dunas – Territories of collaborative creation” is a project presented by the Ministry of Culture through the Federal Law of Incentive to Culture sponsored by Ticket Log and Edenred Brasil. It is supported by the Government of RN, Idema, Parque das Dunas, José Augusto Foundation, Ba-kô Burkina Brasil, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Ágora Institute, Department of Arts of UFRN (DEART), Department of Communications of UFRN, and Dean Office of Extension of UFRN (PROEX). The production is from the museum program Jornada no Bosque and Casadágua Institute.
